The second Changbai Mountain Ginseng Cultural and Trade Exchange Event held recently in Beijing brought together guests from China and abroad to experience the distinctive flavor and cultural heritage of Changbai Mountain ginseng from Jilin province.

Centered on Jilin ginseng, the event blended the traditional Chinese Double Ninth Festival's emphasis on respecting and caring for older people with centuries of wisdom in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), introducing international guests to China's approach to health and wellness.

Guests sampled ginseng-infused medicinal teas, herbal cuisine, and traditional Double Ninth cakes, while tai chi performances added to the festive atmosphere.

Liu Li, a professor at the School of Pharmacy at Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, said the event combined high-quality Jilin-grown ginseng with TCM culture to showcase its nourishing properties.

The event builds on last year's inaugural edition, held at the United Nations Office at Geneva in Switzerland, which marked a step toward introducing Changbai Mountain ginseng culture to the world. This year, the initiative has evolved from taking ginseng culture overseas to welcoming international guests to China.

Dong Hongguang, director of the Sino-Swiss Center of Chinese Medicine in Geneva, said Jilin ginseng is popular among international visitors and called for closer cooperation between businesses and government to expand such exchanges.

By using ginseng as a cultural bridge, Jilin is strengthening international connections and opening new opportunities for its distinctive products in global markets.
