Academics and media professionals gathered to explore ways to promote Jilin's ice and snow culture internationally ahead of the Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade at the third graduate forum of Changchun University of Technology, which opened in Changchun on Oct 9. The forum also focused on strengthening local international communication capabilities and connecting academic research with regional development needs.
The 2027 Winter Universiade is expected to draw international athletes, media organizations, and global attention to Jilin, providing an opportunity to showcase the province's urban landscapes, winter sports resources, and regional culture. Participants discussed how to present these cultural assets in ways that resonate with audiences from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Eight experts and scholars delivered lectures as part of the forum's international communication series. Their discussions covered cultural image-building, international promotion of Chinese culture, integrating culture and tourism, winter sports branding, and digital technology.

Sessions explored how local resources such as Changbai Mountain, Jilin's rime ice formations, and the Chagan Lake winter fishing tradition could be presented to international audiences through cultural storytelling and localized content.
Digital applications were another focus, with discussions addressing AI-assisted multilingual content production, digital modeling of winter landscapes, virtual reality, and the integration of winter sports with film and video production.
During the opening ceremony, the university's School of Journalism and Communication signed a cooperation agreement with Jilin Daily Press Group that aims to strengthen industry-education integration and provide students with practical opportunities in journalism and communication.
