The Shenyang-Baihe section of the Shenyang-Jiamusi High-speed Railway began operations on Sept 28, 2025. Stretching 430 kilometers with a designed speed of 350 km per hour, the line connects Liaoning and Jilin provinces and has strengthened regional connectivity across Northeast China.

The railway runs from Shenyang North Station through Fushun, Tonghua, and Baishan to Changbaishan Station. It connects to several major high-speed railways, including the Beijing-Harbin, Shenyang-Dalian, and Shenyang-Dandong lines, as well as the Dunhua-Baishan railway.

The new line has significantly reduced travel times. Shenyang North to Changbaishan now takes as little as 1 hour and 53 minutes, while Beijing Chaoyang to Changbaishan can be reached in 4 hours and 33 minutes.

In its first month, the line carried more than 660,000 passengers, with up to 64 train services operated daily. By Sept 28, passenger trips are expected to reach 11.5 million.

Operating in a cold, high-latitude region, the railway uses disaster monitoring systems, video surveillance, heated switch points, de-icing vehicles, and snow-removal equipment to ensure safe operations.

The railway has also supported tourism and logistics. Special services assist travelers carrying ski equipment, while express rail freight now transports local specialties such as ginseng and antler products to Beijing in about 3.5 hours.
