China Gold Museum, jointly planned by China National Gold Group and Jilin province, opened in Jilin on Sept 19.

The modern museum combines historical preservation, cultural heritage, public education, and cultural communication, offering visitors a new perspective on gold's story in China.

Gold has long been more than a precious metal. It is a symbol shaped by thousands of years of history and culture, an important material for modern industries, and a link between China's past and future. It has witnessed the rise and fall of civilizations, supported industrial development, and contributed to revolutionary and economic construction.

The museum features four permanent exhibitions and four thematic exhibitions. Among them, the exhibition on the history of ancient Chinese gold traces the development of gold culture, while the exhibition on gold, the economy, and finance in the new era explores the relationship between gold and economic life through national reserves, market circulation, and household ownership.

Located at the Jiapigou Gold Mine in Jilin, a key site in the history of China's gold industry, the museum highlights five notable milestones associated with the mine. These include its long history of continuous mining, its role in advancing mechanized non-ferrous mining, and its role in training industry professionals.

Covering nearly 10,000 square meters, with more than 5,000 sq m of exhibition space, the museum presents the evolution of China's gold industry and mining techniques through artifacts, historical documents, immersive reconstructions, and digital interactive displays, bringing the stories and craftsmanship of gold into the present and allowing visitors to experience a culture shaped by history, industry, and human ingenuity.
