Jilin University celebrated its 80th anniversary with a conference highlighting eight decades of development and achievements.
Over the past 80 years, the university has remained closely connected with the development of China and Jilin province, pursuing progress through perseverance, innovation, and a commitment to serving national needs. The conference was held in Changchun on Sept 16.
Jilin University President Zhang Xi delivered a report on the university's development. Qiu Yong, Party secretary of Tsinghua University, and Paul Mazerolle, president of the University of Southern Queensland, delivered remarks at the event.
The university has focused on Northeast China while serving the country and engaging with the world, achieving landmark accomplishments across a range of fields spanning space exploration and deep-earth science to marine research and polar studies.
Looking ahead, Jilin University aims to further align its development with national priorities and advance the integrated development of education, science and technology, talent, and industry.
It will also deepen university-local cooperation and partnerships with leading institutions and enterprises, while tackling key technological challenges and contributing to China's drive for greater self-reliance in science and technology.
