Northeast Normal University (NENU) celebrated its 80th anniversary with a ceremony on Sept 10 (Teachers' Day in China) in Changchun, Jilin province, honoring eight decades of dedication to education and teaching.

Senior officials from the Jilin Provincial People's Government attended the event, congratulating NENU's faculty, students, and alumni at home and abroad, and offering holiday greetings to teachers and education professionals across the province.

Provincial authorities highlighted NENU's long-standing contributions to teacher education in China. Since its founding amid the turmoil of war, the university has pioneered correspondence-based teacher education, advanced rural education, and contributed to the development of basic education. Generations of NENU educators have helped build its reputation as a cradle of teachers.

NENU teachers were encouraged to lead by example and inspire students through dedication and integrity. Students were urged to study diligently, strengthen their skills, and contribute their talents where the country and its people need them most.

NENU Party Secretary Wu Songquan presided over the celebration, while President Xu Haiyang delivered a report on the university's development. The vice-president of the Saint Petersburg Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Russia also addressed the event.

During the ceremony, alumni presented flowers to their former teachers, while representatives of alumni, faculty, and students delivered tributes.
