A symposium themed on the development of the film and television industry opened at Jilin Animation Institute on Aug 27, as part of the 21st Changchun Film Festival.

The event brought together representatives from government, film organizations, industry, and academia to discuss talent development, creative practices, and the future of the film and television sector.

Gao Sheng, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, highlighted the importance of talent to the development of the film industry and recognized Jilin Animation Institute's role in cultivating professionals in animation and film.

Jiang Ping, president of the China Xia Yan Film Association, emphasized drawing creative inspiration from people and everyday life, while Liu Wei, deputy general manager of Changchun Film Group, noted the symposium's role in connecting industry practice with education.

Two major academic sessions were also held, focusing on advancing film and television creation and on preserving the humanistic values of creative work amid digital transformation.

The symposium also featured a themed screening event and an exhibition of classic film stills, creating a broader platform for dialogue, creative exchange, and the preservation of film culture.
