The themed seminar of the 21st Changchun Film Festival was held at Northeast Normal University on Aug 25, focusing on the foundations and history of Chinese film narratives in the digital intelligence era.

The seminar was jointly hosted by the Executive Committee of the 21st Changchun Film Festival, Changchun Film Group, and Northeast Normal University.

Gao Sheng, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, said digital technologies such as AIGC are transforming the entire film industry, expanding the boundaries of artistic expression while posing new questions about preserving the essence of filmmaking and its humanistic values.

Jilin boasts a rich film heritage, while Changchun Film Group carries the legacy of the "cradle of Chinese cinema" and Northeast Normal University has strong academic expertise in film and television studies. The collaboration aims to strengthen links among industry, academia, and research, creating an ecosystem that encourages innovation.

Zhuang Yan, chairman of Changchun Film Group, said the company is embracing AIGC-driven changes and will deepen its cooperation with Northeast Normal University in digital film innovation, regional IP development, and young talent cultivation.

Experts from Peking University and Beijing Film Academy delivered keynote speeches on film narratives in the digital intelligence era, followed by two themed forums and two parallel sessions with lively academic discussions.
