Zhenlai county in Northeast China's Jilin province showcased its signature crayfish and Chinese mitten crabs at a regional public brand promotion event in Changchun from Aug 21 to 23.

Blending music, food, and interactive activities, the event created a lively nighttime consumption scene for young people. Popular local livestreamers participated, while bands performed live and visitors took part in prize-winning activities. Online livestreams and an immersive offline market enhanced overall engagement.

Fresh, plump crayfish and meat-rich Chinese mitten crabs took center stage, allowing visitors to experience the distinctive flavors and quality of Zhenlai's aquatic products. The event also featured product experiences, themed promotions, and interactive activities highlighting the county's agricultural specialties.

Experts from the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences and other research institutions shared insights on saline-alkali water aquaculture, integrated fishery-agriculture development, crayfish breeding, and the Chinese mitten crab industry, offering guidance to upgrade Zhenlai's aquaculture sector.

A major milestone came with the unveiling of the Western Jilin (Zhenlai) Shrimp and Crab Industry Research Institute. Zhenlai also signed strategic cooperation agreements with companies involved in processing, sales, e-commerce, and standardized aquaculture.

The event further brought together research institutions and industry experts to discuss ecological aquaculture, brand development, improved crayfish varieties, off-season farming, and crab breeding and processing, helping drive the industry toward a more integrated value chain.
