Crowds gathered along Xinmin Avenue in Changchun's Historical and Cultural District on July 5 for a themed concert that filled the air and transformed the historic street into an open-air music venue.
Featuring wind ensemble performances and popular music acts, the event offered residents and visitors an immersive cultural experience, blending music with the charm of one of the city's most iconic historic streets.
The concert began at 4:30 pm on the main stage outside Changchun Historical and Cultural Museum. The first half featured a wind ensemble concert, while the second half shifted to a lively street music performance organized by Changchun's cultural and tourism authorities.
Among the highlights were original songs inspired by Changchun that connected music to local history and collective memories, creating a strong sense of place and identity.
Since reopening on July 5, 2025, Xinmin Avenue has become a popular gathering place for residents and tourists. Over the past year, the district has hosted more than 500 cultural events, with the China National Opera House, the Jilin Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of Changchun Film Studio bringing performances to the streets.
A song-and-dance troupe from Altay in Xinjiang is also set to perform on Xinmin Avenue in mid-July, offering audiences a showcase of ethnic music and dance.
