Community leader Wu Yaqin from Northeast China's Jilin province has been awarded the July 1 Medal, the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s highest honor, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to grassroots governance and community service.

The medal was presented at a grand ceremony marking the 105th anniversary of the CPC's founding, held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on July 1.

Born in July 1960 in Changchun, Wu joined the Party in September 1998. She currently serves as the first secretary of the Party committee of the Changshan garden community in Tuanshan sub-district.

Over the past three decades, Wu has remained at the forefront of community governance, pioneering innovative approaches, including the "four-step consultation mechanism" and the "36 community work methods", which have helped improve grassroots governance and strengthen community participation.

Wu has also played a key role in resolving social disputes, mediating more than 1,000 cases. To share her experience with others, she established the Wu Yaqin studio and developed more than 10 training courses covering community governance and grassroots Party building. Nearly 30,000 grassroots governance professionals and community workers have received training through these programs.

Wu's recognition with the July 1 Medal highlights the vital role of grassroots workers in promoting community development, social harmony, and effective governance across China.
