Jilin launches 1st school of future transportation

The first school of future transportation in Northeast China's Jilin province was inaugurated on June 26 at the Tourism College of Changchun University.

The initiative is part of efforts by higher education institutions in Jilin to align with national strategies, including building China into a transportation powerhouse and advancing digital China.

The new school brings together strong industry resources, with 48 enterprises participating in its development, including 42 domestic companies and six overseas firms. These partnerships are expected to expand opportunities for internships, practical training, and employment, while promoting international cooperation and industry-academia integration.

The School of Future Transportation will focus on four key areas: smart transportation, intelligent mobility, smart ports, and low-altitude technology engineering. The school will also integrate strengths in tourism, winter sports, and artificial intelligence to foster interdisciplinary talent equipped for the transportation systems of the future.

The inauguration event also highlighted new technologies and trends in the transportation sector. An outdoor exhibition featured passenger aircraft, new energy vehicles, classic vintage cars, and an aircraft carrier model, while drone flight demonstrations showcased the growing potential of the low-altitude economy.

During the ceremony, Changchun University signed strategic cooperation agreements with six leading enterprises in transportation, intelligent mobility, and logistics. The partnerships will support joint program development, collaborative research projects, and talent cultivation.
