Jilin University held a news conference on June 22 to introduce its 2026 undergraduate admissions plan, outlining new enrollment policies, changes to the talent cultivation system, specialty programs, student support measures and career development initiatives.
Zhang Ran, vice president of Jilin University, presented an overview of the university's undergraduate education system. He highlighted the institution's strengths as a comprehensive research university, emphasizing its broad disciplinary foundation, interdisciplinary education model and commitment to serving major national development strategies.
Another vice president, Bian Tie, introduced improvements to campus services and facilities. He said air conditioning has now been installed in all student dormitories, while the university has continued to upgrade dining, transportation, healthcare, sports and cultural facilities across its six campuses.
This year, Jilin University will increase undergraduate enrollment limit by 100 students, bringing total admissions to 10,530. The university has adjusted its academic program structure by reducing enrollment in disciplines with declining demand and reallocating places to fields considered strategically important for national development.
Twelve new specialty programs will enroll students for the first time. These programs focus on emerging areas including low-altitude transportation, bio-inspired embodied intelligent robotics, quantum technology, deep-earth and polar exploration, smart agriculture and biomedicine.
In addition, six disciplinary categories, including civil engineering, geology and journalism and communication, will implement an entirely preference-based major allocation system without score restrictions or mandatory assignment.
