The second round of the 2026 Northeast China City Football League featured a highly anticipated clash between Shenyang and Yanbian at Shenyang Tiexi Stadium on June 13.
Shenyang had their first real look at goal in the 21st minute. Capitalizing on a defensive blunder by Yanbian, Shenyang broke through on the left flank and whipped in a dangerous cross, but the central attacker's tap-in sailed agonizingly wide, squandering a golden opportunity to break the deadlock.
In the 38th minute, Shenyang caught Yanbian on the break, creating a one-on-one chance, but the Yanbian goalkeeper made a heroic save to deny the hosts.
Both sides left everything on the pitch in a hard-fought first half, but neither could find the back of the net. The referee blew the halftime whistle with the teams locked in a 0-0 stalemate.
The breakthrough came just a minute into the second half. In the 46th minute, Shenyang's No 11, Ma Xingbo, fired a clinical shot into the back of the net to open the scoring and give Shenyang a 1-0 lead.
From that point on, both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances. When the final whistle blew, the score remained 1-0, condemning Yanbian to a tough away defeat.
With this hard-fought victory, Shenyang secured back-to-back wins and climbed to the top of the 2026 Northeast China City Football League standings.
