More than 9,000 students across five county-level cities and counties in Jilin city entered examination halls on June 7 as China's 2026 national college entrance exam, or gaokao, officially began.

To ensure a safe and smooth testing environment, local authorities, public service agencies, and volunteers coordinated extensive support measures in Yongji, Shulan, Panshi, Jiaohe, and Huadian.

Traffic police arrived early at examination sites, implementing temporary traffic controls, enforcing no-horn zones, and deploying motorcycle patrol units to respond quickly to emergencies. Health authorities stationed medical personnel and ambulances equipped with essential medicines at testing locations, while firefighting teams remained on standby and conducted regular inspections throughout the day.

Power supply companies conducted advanced inspections of electrical facilities and prepared emergency generators to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply. Urban management departments strengthened controls on noise and roadside vendors around exam venues, helping create a quiet and orderly environment for candidates.

Several counties also introduced additional support services. In Shulan, three professional psychological counselors were assigned to assist students, while five dedicated hotline numbers were opened to provide emotional support.

Outside examination sites in Panshi and Jiaohe, community workers and youth volunteers set up shelters and provided drinking water, seating, and cooling supplies. In Yongji, transportation authorities intensified inspections to prevent taxi refusal cases and protect students' travel rights.
