Policy incentives power Changchun's robust holiday market

Changchun's consumer market, fueled by triple policy incentives, has gathered strong momentum during the Spring Festival, with total holiday spending reaching 9.31 billion yuan ($1.3 billion), up 5.01 percent year on year, while the number of visitors climbed 7.09 percent to 9.97 million.
The "Shopping Happily in Changchun" invoice lottery campaign, launched on Feb 11 across eight major sectors, allows shoppers who spend over 100 yuan to qualify for prize draws. By Feb 23, the campaign had already generated 264,000 participating invoices and distributed 6.1 million yuan in rewards.
The city has hosted 150 consumer-themed events centered on Chinese New Year shopping, festive cuisine, and holiday markets, with major commercial enterprises offering extensive discounts and promotions totaling more than 100 million yuan. Sales at 84 key monitored enterprises have reached 826 million yuan, up 9.1 percent year on year.
Business districts and commercial complexes have refreshed consumption experiences through garden fairs, intangible cultural heritage showcases, and theatrical parades, and holiday foot traffic at Hongqi Street has reached 4.57 million visitors, generating 137 million yuan in sales, up 23.5 percent.

Spending by visitors from outside the city has risen 43.3 percent year on year, with catering and hotel consumption both increasing by nearly 40 percent. Across 11 designated nighttime consumption zones, more than 200 evening promotional events have lifted nighttime spending by 9.2 percent.
