The Key Laboratory of Ice and Snow Tourism Facilities, Equipment and Intelligent Services at Jilin University released the China Ski Resort Competitiveness Rankings and Top 10 Ski Tourism Cities in Changchun on Feb 7, as part of the China Ice and Snow Index 3.
The authoritative list aims to address bottlenecks in the ice and snow industry and provide decision-making references for high-quality development. Changchun, Tonghua, and Jilin cities were named among the country's top 10 ski tourism cities.
As the nation's only ministerial-level key laboratory dedicated to ice and snow tourism, the institute has built a comprehensive research framework through the earlier Ice and Snow Index 1 and 2.
The latest index, developed over nearly two years, addresses challenges such as product homogenization and supply-demand mismatches. It evaluates both consumer demand and resort resource supply across 12 dimensions, including overall performance, beginner-friendliness, and appeal to advanced skiers.
The assessment covers 111 ski resorts across 19 provincial-level regions, and includes intra-provincial rankings for 367 resorts. Notably, consumer sentiment and satisfaction account for 40 percent of the total weight, making them a core measure of competitiveness.
