China Railway Shenyang Group has launched a pilot "ski gear easy-carry" service on six trains along the Northeast loop, starting Jan 15, allowing passengers to bring ski equipment on board and store it in designated areas. The service aims to improve the high-speed rail travel experience and better support the region's growing ice-and-snow tourism.
After assessing safety, onboard order, and storage conditions, the railway operator selected specific services for the pilot, including the Harbin West-Tonghua D548/9/8 and D547/50/47 trains, the Shenyang North-Shenyang North G8131/4 and G8133/2 loop services, and the Changchun West-Changchun G8138/5/8 and G8137/6/7 trains. Dedicated ski equipment storage areas have been set up in designated carriages, covering 18 stations including Shenyang North and Fushun.

Passengers carrying ski equipment can check service details on the official train ticket booking system 12306 platform.
On the day of travel, properly packed ski equipment can be brought to the station and processed through designated security and ticket-check channels. After boarding, train staff members will guide passengers to place their gear in nearby storage areas, and regular inspections will be conducted during the journey to ensure safety.
The service is priced at 98 yuan ($13.72) per set, and passengers can apply for an electronic invoice via the 12306 app within 180 days of travel.
