FAW-Volkswagen has been named a national excellence-level intelligent factory under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's 2025 Intelligent Factory Development Program, becoming the first enterprise in Northeast China's Jilin province to earn this top honor.
This recognition marks a major leap forward in the company's collaborative smart-manufacturing system across large-scale automotive production.
Among more than 1,000 participating enterprises nationwide, FAW-Volkswagen's planning and Changchun production teams selected 35 representative AI-powered smart scenarios across eight core manufacturing stages, showcasing innovations spanning R&D, production, supply chain, and sales. Their cases ultimately stood out, offering a reference blueprint for digital and intelligent transformation across the industry.
As a key player in China's automotive sector, FAW-Volkswagen is advancing intelligent manufacturing guided by digital innovation, high-efficiency collaboration, and green development. This year, all five of its major vehicle production bases – Changchun, Chengdu, Foshan, Qingdao, and Tianjin – along with FAW-Volkswagen Power Technology Co, were named advanced-level intelligent factories.
Together, they cover the entire value chain, including R&D, manufacturing, quality management, smart logistics, and energy operations, forming a comprehensive intelligent-manufacturing ecosystem.
