South America comes to a Jilin classroom

The College of International Education at Jilin University and the Affiliated Primary School of Jilin University jointly hosted a lively cultural exchange event titled "International Students Enter the Classroom" on Nov 4.
The event was attended by Jiang Lei, dean of the College of International Education; Cui Xianhua, associate dean of the college; Liu Haotian, principal of the affiliated primary school; along with over 100 teachers and students.
Two international students, Wang Xicheng (Chinese name) from Argentina and Hua Na (Chinese name) from Colombia, served as cultural ambassadors. Wang introduced Argentina's national icons – from football legend Lionel Messi to the aroma of traditional mate tea – while Hua Na shared Colombia's breathtaking landscapes, vibrant music, and colorful local life, taking young students on an immersive virtual journey through South America.

During the interactive Q&A, primary school students eagerly raised their hands to ask questions about customs, foods, and festivals, with the international guests responding warmly. The lively discussion served as a bridge for friendship and understanding.
The event enhanced students' global awareness and improved their English communication skills, inspiring them to see themselves as future citizens of a shared world.
