The Light Conference, held in tandem with the 2025 Changchun International Optoelectronic Expo, opened on June 10 with a global vision. Chaired by Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences academician Luc Thévenaz, the opening ceremony set the tone for three days of vibrant academic exchange.

Pietro Ferraro, research director at Italy's National Research Council, warmly welcomed attendees and highlighted the Light journal's global office system as a foundation for international collaboration. Italy's academic community, he noted, has been deeply involved in the conference. This year's edition also launched the inaugural Sino-Italian Photonics Forum, sparking rich dialogue between scholars from both countries.

Over 800 scholars from 26 countries and six continents participated, making the event a truly global convergence. The program features 172 academic talks and over 100 poster presentations, spread across seven English and four Chinese sessions.

Zhang Xicheng, a foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, delivered a keynote speech titled "How Light Attracts Brilliance", reflecting on the journal's journey and global impact.

Following the awards ceremony, esteemed scholars, including Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Li Deren, Boston University's Siddharth Ramachandran, and Politecnico di Milano's Giulio Cerullo, presented cutting-edge insights on spatiotemporal intelligence, topological photon propagation, and ultrafast photonics.

The next two days of the meeting delved into 10 frontier areas, including topological photonics, computational optical metrology, quantum information, and precision manufacturing.
