CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles, headquartered in Northeast China's Jilin province, has unveiled its latest innovation: a next-generation, low-capacity rail transit vehicle powered by hydrogen. Designed with a "green + low-cost + cultural IP" approach, it offers an innovative, sustainable solution to improve urban mobility.
Equipped with a hydrogen fuel system that ensures zero carbon emissions, the train boasts a range of over 320 kilometers on a single charge and consumes just 1.5 kilowatt-hours per km. It also supports modular power switching between hydrogen, supercapacitors, and batteries to suit diverse infrastructure needs.
Blending both rail and bus transit, the vehicle is cost-efficient, quick to deploy, and flexible in configuration – ideal for last-mile transport and tourism routes. It features customizable 1-6 car formations, with commuter and tourism modes.

The interior offers onboard tea rooms, cafes, and performance spaces. Visually inspired by Changchun's Xinmin Avenue architecture, it combines Baroque flair with modern aesthetics, echoing nature with floral tones and traditional Chinese motifs.
Experts see it as a breakthrough in unifying green transit with cultural tourism.
