A delegation from Northeast China's Jilin province visited Hong Kong from May 17 to 19 to express gratitude for the city's longstanding support and to explore new opportunities for cooperation.
Hong Kong representatives welcomed the delegation, recognizing Jilin as a vital gateway for the Belt and Road Initiative's northern expansion. They praised Jilin's strength in industry and manufacturing, particularly in the automotive and high-speed rail sectors, and expressed readiness to deepen multi-sectoral collaborations based on complementary strengths.
Jilin is a major industrial, agricultural, and educational base, home to many of New China's "firsts": the first automobile, railway passenger car, synthetic rubber, and chemical fertilizer. It is also the cradle of China's automobile, film, and aviation industries.
With pristine forests, powder snow, and fertile black soil, Jilin is known for its outstanding ecological resources and seasonal beauty. It is a popular destination for summer retreats and winter sports. Hong Kong residents are warmly invited to experience its charm throughout the year.
Jilin's premium agricultural products, especially Changbai Mountain ginseng, are increasingly celebrated in the Hong Kong market.
The delegation also visited China Resources (Holdings) Co, the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, and West Kowloon Cultural District (WestK).
