Jilin Animation Institute shines at Beijing International Film Festival

On April 21, Jilin Animation Institute made a strong appearance at the Beijing International Film Festival, joining the National University Animation Innovation Consortium to co-host a technology forum.

At the forum, He Zhenhui, head of industry projects at Jilin Animation Institute, presented a project titled Intelligent Bionics: The Technological Leap from Virtual Creatures to Real Filming Characters, showcasing cutting-edge advancements in virtual production technology.

Liu Zhenhua, the institute's executive president, delivered a keynote speech on AI empowering breakthroughs in higher art education. The speech highlighted the institute's initiatives, such as developing large animation and gaming AI models, establishing the Future Intelligent Imaging College, and building a cross-disciplinary system that integrates art, AI, and film technologies.

You Yunfang, deputy general manager of Jilin VIXO Pictures Co, promoted the original student-produced animated feature, Zap's Last Stand. This groundbreaking film, the first in China to feature internet-themed animated characters, employed advanced 3D modeling and PBR-standard visual production processes to create over 100 characters, 300 props, and 60 scenes with more than 100 million modeling faces.
