On April 16, Jilin University inaugurated its Chinese and International Youth Practice Base, the only one of its kind in Northeast China's Jilin province and among the first 115 nationwide.

According to Zhou Zhengchao, deputy director of the Jilin Provincial Department of Education, the base empowers international students to become compelling storytellers of Chinese culture on the global stage. It offers hands-on experiences with traditional Chinese crafts such as woodblock printing, book restoration, calligraphy mounting, and stone rubbing. It combines online and offline learning to help students explore the depth of Chinese heritage.

Following the base's opening ceremony, students attended a cultural experience exhibition themed on Tiangong Kaiwu (The Exploitation of the Works of Nature), an encyclopedia of technology in ancient China. There, they tried traditional papermaking and dyeing techniques, gaining firsthand insight into China's ancient craftsmanship.

Zhang Ran, standing committee member of the Party committee and vice president of Jilin University, highlighted how the university integrates its rich cultural and academic resources – including the library, archaeological and art museums, the geological museum, and memorial halls – into an immersive educational platform promoting traditional Chinese culture.

As a key center for ancient book preservation and cultural exchange, the university's library supports a full-chain education system focused on cultural experience, language learning, and innovation.
