Changchun invests in its future workforce
|As graduation season approaches, Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province, is launching initiatives to attract university graduates to thrive in the city. With 650,000 students currently enrolled in local universities, Changchun aims to transform this academic advantage into a powerful talent pool for future development.
The city will offer themed tours and immersive experiences tailored to students, inviting tens of thousands to explore, connect, and engage with Changchun. A special program will bring 1,000 PhD students from 100 universities into local enterprises for collaboration and exchange. Talent representatives from cities like Shenyang, Dalian, Harbin, and Hohhot will gather for regional recruitment events to attract top-tier graduates.
Changchun will host 20 innovation and entrepreneurship competitions throughout the year, supporting university-led tech and skills development. Local organizations will open practical training opportunities for Changchun-born students returning during summer and winter breaks.
To boost employment readiness, the city will build 100 new training bases and 100 internship hubs, offering monthly stipends. One hundred campus job fairs will match 5,000 companies with job seekers, creating 100,000 positions.
Changchun is also investing in youth housing, with 2,000 talent transition suites and 20,000 discounted talent apartments. New full-time graduates can receive up to 2,500 yuan ($345) per month in rental and living subsidies for up to two years.
