Spring Festival recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage
|On Dec 4, "Spring Festival, social practices of the Chinese people in celebration of the traditional new year", was inscribed on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

This recognition was granted during the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage held in Asunción, Paraguay.
This milestone brings the total number of Chinese entries on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage lists to 44, more than any other country in the world.
