The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened in Shanghai on Nov 5. During the event, FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co and Volkswagen Group signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in importing vehicles and components.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Volkswagen's entry into the Chinese market. Since 1984, Volkswagen has evolved from completely knocked down (CKD) trial production to an "In China, For China" development and manufacturing approach, growing alongside China's automotive industry. The brand has deeply integrated into the lives of Chinese consumers while significantly contributing to the development of China's industrial and automotive sectors.

FAW-Volkswagen is a model of successful Sino-German automotive cooperation and plays a critical role in Volkswagen Group's China-focused strategy.

Expanding from one brand with a single model to three brands offering over 30 fuel and new energy models, FAW-Volkswagen has created nearly 500,000 jobs in its supply chain and contributed over 700 billion yuan ($97.98 billion) in taxes. With more than 28 million vehicles sold, it leads China's passenger car market. Facing a highly competitive automotive market, FAW-Volkswagen is accelerating its transition toward local needs and continues innovating in production, R&D, logistics, and green development to drive the automotive industry forward.
