Northeast China's Jilin province, the nation's largest ginseng producer, is advancing its ginseng industry through new initiatives, positioning it for significant growth. The provincial government has prioritized establishing mechanisms for high-quality development, focusing on market integrity, standardized cultivation, advanced processing, and brand marketing, offering fresh opportunities for the sector.

In the first half of this year, Jilin launched the "One Ginseng, One Code" traceability platform, enhancing product quality control and credibility. The Jilin Ginseng Product Inspection and Testing Alliance was also established, further ensuring standardized and reliable ginseng products. These initiatives promote the industry's move toward greater standardization and compliance, aiming for a billion-dollar growth target.

On the cultivation front, the Changbai Mountain Ginseng Planting Alliance was founded to support farmers with scientific planting techniques and promote biological fertilizers and green growing practices. This has resulted in a yield increase from 1.6 to 2 kilograms per square meter, with over 75 percent classified as premium ginseng.

Jilin is also strengthening its ginseng processing capabilities by focusing on innovation. The province's ginseng industry is thriving, and over 1,000 products have been developed, including food, medicine, and cosmetics. Jilin's branding strategy, particularly with "Changbai Mountain Ginseng," continues to gain market influence, with 54 companies and 288 branded products contributing to its success.
