On June 19 local time, CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co completed a seven-day 2024 Hajj transportation service in the field of its custom-designed Desert Oasis metro for Mecca. 

The service provided safe, comfortable and convenient transportation for over 2.09 million passengers from around the world arriving in Mecca, earning the company widespread praise.

This year marks the 13th year of CRRC Changchun's Hajj metro service. It is also the first year that all Mecca Hajj vehicles underwent their first overseas 4S shop maintenance before operating.

The Mecca metro operated non-stop for 158 hours over seven days, dispatching 2,206 trains – significantly easing transportation pressure during the Hajj and earning it the affectionate nickname the Desert Oasis from locals.

This year, Mecca experienced an unusual heatwave with temperatures soaring to 50 C for several consecutive days. The metro became the preferred choice for local commuters, offering a comfortable escape from the scorching heat and saving considerable travel time.

To ensure the smooth completion of the Hajj activities, CRRC Changchun dispatched a skilled support team of managers, technicians and service staff members there. The team conducted thorough inspections and maintenance of the vehicles to ensure an optimal performance.

To accommodate the Hajj pilgrims and manage heavy passenger flows at different times, CRRC Changchun's support team implemented five different metro operation modes – maximizing the efficiency of the transportation service.
