Founded in 1909, Jilin Provincial Library used to be located in Jilin city. It moved to Changchun in 1954 after the formation of the People's Republic of China.

Based on a total construction area of 53,713 square meters, the library itself occupies 44,700 sq m, with one underground floor and five floors above the ground. Its designed service life is 100 years.

The library boasts a collection of 5 million books, 3,000 reading seats, 4,000 network nodes, and is able to receive 6,000 readers daily.

There are nearly 4 million volumes of documents and a vast trove of digital literature resources in the library, including 430,000 volumes of ancient thread-bound books, which have high historical value.
