The Lishu County Local Opera Troupe Co was established in 1955. It is a professional artistic performing group that focuses on performing errenzhuan, (a type of folk singing and dancing popular in Northeast China), and also includes dramas, songs and dances, and sketches.

In 2011, the China Quyi Artists Association officially named and awarded Lishu county as the hometown of Chinese errenzhuan. In 2014, Lishu errenzhuan was recognized by the Ministry of Culture as the hometown of Chinese folk cultural arts for the year 2014.

Over the years, it has been honored with various awards, including the National Advanced Unit for Cultural Work, the Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Display and Transmission Base, and the Provincial Civilized Unit.
