Xianshun Pipa School is currently the only professional school for the pipa (a traditional Chinese musical instrument) in China and one of the first batch of "National Cultural Industry Demonstration Bases".

With a history of 40 years, Xianshun Pipa School has over 700 students. In 2004, the China Nationalities Orchestra Society awarded the title of "Chinese Hometown of Pipa" to Liaoyuan city. In 2006, it recognized Xianshun Pipa School as a "National Pipa Training Base". In 2008, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China named Xianshun Pipa School as a "National Cultural Industry Demonstration Base". In 2009, the school's pipa teaching method was appraised as the provincial intangible cultural heritage.
