This is the "cradle" of China's automotive industry. On July 15, 1953, the first automobile manufacturing plant in New China (now known as China FAW Group Corporation) laid its foundation stone. After three years of arduous pioneering work amidst challenging conditions, the first modern automobile manufacturing plant in New China was completed, marking the beginning of a new era in China's automotive industry.

This place witnessed many "firsts" in the history of the development of China's automotive industry. The first domestically produced vehicle in New China, the "Jiefang" truck, the first domestically produced sedan, the "Dongfeng" sedan, and the first domestically produced luxury car, the "Hongqi" sedan, were all produced here. The China FAW Historical and Cultural District, located around Gate No 1, was established in the 1950s and is a nationally renowned and unique industrial architectural complex from the "First Five-Year Plan" era. It has been designated as a key national cultural heritage site.
