Jilin's Baishan city offers spectacular ice, snow events

Baishan city in Northeast China's Jilin province – is hosting a dazzling array of ice and snow activities during the ongoing 2023-24 winter season.

With the focus on ice and snow themes, the city is organizing eight major sporting events. It will also introduce five fusion products combining ice and snow culture with tourism and launch two ice and snow study tour routes.

These initiatives are expected to provide robust support for the province's master plan to boost its tourism industry to the 1-trillion-yuan ($137 billion) annual output level.

Located in the "ice and snow golden latitude zone," Baishan offers a long snow season and perfect temperatures for the season, making it a haven for winter sports enthusiasts.

The Changbai Mountains boast being the country's premier skiing destination and one of the world's top-three winter sports and ice tourism destinations – alongside the European Alps and the North American Rockies, renowned for their powder snow.

This year's Winter in Changbai Mountains ice and snow tourism season runs from November 2023 to March 2024. Throughout the season, Baishan will host over 40 series of events comprising ice and snow festivals, sporting events, study tours and promotional activities – all continuously creating highlights in ice and snow tourism and attracting crowds.

To date, the pre-sales revenue of hotels, resorts and tourist areas in Baishan has topped 200 million yuan.
