There's excitement as a Korean spicy cabbage culture festival opens in Huadian. [Photo provided to gojilin.gov.cn]

A Korean spicy cabbage culture festival opened on Sept 22 in Xiaoguang village – administered by Huadian city in Northeast China's Jilin province – integrating Korean cuisine, folk culture and cultural entertainment.

The cultural festival is one of the events in the 18th Jilin-Huadian Birch Festival.

At the event, people from different ethnic groups attended in traditional costumes. More than 100 performers and over 40 primary school students presented great cultural performances, showcasing the special traits and characteristics of various ethnic groups.

A special feature of the festival was the large gathering of local agricultural products, highlighting the distinctive products of Huadian. Exhibition boards and wall paintings were also set up to promote the festival.

More than 30 people of the local Korean ethnic group worked together to make spicy cabbage and rice cakes. People from different ethnic groups enthusiastically participated in the Korean-style rice mixing activity, involving thousands of people.
