Northeast China's Jilin province has achieved a series of impressive results in promoting its high-level opening-up, according to information released at a news conference held on April 6.

Last year its total foreign trade exports broke the record, with exports alone up by 42.1 percent – 31.6 percentage points higher than the national level and ranking Jilin fifth in the country.

The operating mileage of highways and high-speed railways in the province reached 4,395 kilometers and 877 kilometers, respectively. Other key progress has been made. Cross-border rail transportation channels have been opened – such as the Changchun-Manzhouli-Europe, Changchun-Hunchun-Europe and Hunchun to Ningbo and Qingdao via Zarubino freight services.

In 2022, the China-Europe Railway Express transported 10,340 twenty-foot equivalent units or TEUs – the standard container size – of goods in total.

Moreover, the China-ROK (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone and the Hunchun Marine Economic Development Demonstration Zone were approved for construction.

In 2022, the Changjitu Development and Opening-up Pilot Zone accounted for 70 percent of the province's total GDP, with the annual growth rate some 0.6 percentage points higher than that of the province.

To date, Jilin has signed strategic cooperation framework agreements with 11 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and 66 Chinese Academy of Sciences projects have been introduced there.

What's more, Jilin has successfully hosted the 13th China-Northeast Asia Expo and seven sessions of the World Conference of Jilin Merchants.
