A running total of 3,589 Chinese-made autos were exported in the current year as of April 2, via highways and railways in the county-level city of Hunchun – located in Northeast China's Jilin province – breaking the record for the first quarter.

According to data released by Hunchun Port, the export volume for the period exceeded the total for all of 2022 – a massive year-on-year increase of 1,039 percent – while the average daily export of domestic commercial vehicles was 39.

Hunchun, a small border city located at the junction of China, Russia and North Korea, has witnessed its export volume of complete automobiles to Russia hit new highs, while the import volume of seafood has steadily increased. Last year, the scale of Hunchun's cross-border e-commerce and B2C exports to Russia ranked first in the country.

Hunchun Port is the only checkpoint in Jilin province that is open to Russia. It can directly connect to port cities such as Zarubino and Vladivostok in that country. As such, it is regarded as a very important channel for China's trade with its neighbor.

In recent years, Hunchun has continuously optimized the customs clearance environment of the port.

By implementing measures such as extending the customs clearance times at Hunchun Highway Port and implementing a 24/7 working system at Hunchun Railway Port, it has encouraged more domestic car manufacturers to export their commercial vehicles through Hunchun.

In particular, a container train service opened in September last year - opening up a new model to help with the exports of complete vehicles.
