The Changchun Automobile Economic and Technological Development Zone – located in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province – has set out a vision for promoting its auto industry cluster, as announced at its annual work conference held on Feb 20.

In 2022, the auto development zone ranked first in the evaluation of such zones in the province and ranked 27th in the assessment of 217 national economic development zones in the country.

As the core area of Changchun's automobile industry, last year, the auto development zone implemented 94 projects worth more than 50 million yuan ($7.28 million) each.

Leading major projects – such as Audi PPE, BYD power battery and the FAW-CRRC joint venture electric drive system – have made marked progress and 55 projects have been successfully completed.

In 2023, the auto development zone will focus on the major strategic tasks of the provincial government. It will promote the construction of complete vehicle manufacturing, parts manufacturing and aftermarket hub.

Moreover, it will aim to adhere to cluster cultivation and strong industrial supply chains as the main starting point. It will continue to improve the resilience and safety level of the production chains and supply chains and strive to forge new industrial competitive advantages.

The zone is set to focus on 115 key projects, accelerate the successful completion of the first phase of the Audi PPE project, the completion of the BYD power battery project and start the second phase of construction of the Audi PPE project in due course.

Construction on such projects as infrastructure facilities around the industrial parks and intelligent network vehicle roads is scheduled to start.
