Changchun celebrates Lantern Festival with artistic performances

Residents flock to watch artistic performances staged in the Shuangyang community in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province, on Feb 5. The day marked the Lantern Festival, one of China's traditional festivals that signify the end of Spring Festival festivities. A yangko performance is staged in the Shuangyang community in Changchun, Jilin province, on Feb 5. Yangko is a folk recreational activity in Northeast China that originates from laborious work. Incorporating agricultural songs, water chestnut collecting songs, folk martial arts, acrobatics and operas, it has evolved into a characteristic folk song and dance.
