The number of college graduates currently staying in Northeast China's Jilin province for work has reached 118,000, an increase of 17.7 percent over the previous year, according to the provincial government report delivered at the 14th Jilin Provincial People's Congress.

The province has launched 20 measures in six areas to stabilize employment and growth, targeting key groups such as college and university graduates.

Under the measures, the province will continue to be market-oriented and promote employment. Jilin will stabilize its market players and support new industries and new formats to boost employment.

Those individuals who have difficulty in finding jobs and graduates who have not been employed within two years of leaving school and who find employment in new business enterprises, will be given social insurance subsidies in line with the regulations.

In recent years, Jilin has taken solid steps in its development as an innovation-oriented province.

With the support from the State, Jilin is home to 11 State-level key laboratories and has recently built three national key laboratories and two national technology innovation centers. In addition, six State-level key laboratories participated in the first round of a reorganization.

Furthermore, the Changchun National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone and Jilin Changchun National Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Zone were approved and have begun construction.

The province registered 1,804 newly recognized technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises last year, and the number of high-tech enterprises in the province reached 3,112.
