Changchun auto zone signs up key projects worth 44.2b yuan

The Changchun Automobile Economic and Technological Development Zone – located in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province – signed up 64 projects on Jan 5 that will cost 44.2 billion yuan ($6.45 billion), according to local media reports.

In addition, 12 projects with a total investment of 5.96 billion yuan were established and started.

The signing ceremony was attended by Changchun officials, China FAW Group executives and 176 business representatives.

The Changchun Automobile Economic and Technological Development Zone boasts major auto manufacturers – including China FAW Group, FAW-Hongqi, FAW-Jiefang and FAW-Volkswagen- making it a core area for the auto sector in the city.

The zone is said to focus on the headquarters economy with FAW Group's NBD headquarters at the core. Furthermore, it will speed up the introduction of a technology research and development center and will make concerted efforts to promote its headquarters economy.

At the same time, it will accelerate the release of production capacity for vehicle projects.
