The commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Northeast China's Jilin province and Miyagi prefecture in Japan was held online on Nov 24, according to local media reports.

The two sides signed a joint declaration on the day.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, as well as the 35th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between Jilin province and Miyagi prefecture.

Over the years, the two sides have continued to deepen cooperation in the fields of the economy, culture, science and technology and in the process they have forged a deep and abiding friendship.

Jilin is located in one of the three major black soil belts in the world. It is an old industrial base, an important commodity grain base and a province with strength in the development of the humanities, science and education in China.

The province boasts major domestic auto manufacturers including China FAW Group and Hongqi, as well as a raft of key projects including the Audi FAW New Energy Vehicle Co project.

Miyagi is Japan's 16th largest prefecture. It is agricultural but also has a strong manufacturing industry, especially in electronics. Rice farming and fishing are also important.

Miyagi is blessed with diverse natural landscapes that offer ideal settings for exhilarating outdoor adventures. From sandy beaches and craggy coasts to lush forests and misty peaks, the prefecture has it all within reach.

The hope is that the two sides will deepen their cooperation in fields such as modern agriculture, automobiles, artificial intelligence, clean energy and elderly care services.
