The automobile industry in Northeast China's Jilin province has experienced a rebound, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to local media reports.

Since September, the orders at Jilin Dongguang Aowei Automobile Braking System Co – a unit of Northeast Industrial Group – have been increasing continuously. In October, the product orders reached 260,000 sets, a record.

At present, the monthly output of the company is topping 200,000 sets.

Throughout the third quarter, the added value of the auto industry in Jilin province increased by 32.5 percent year-on-year – of which July, August and September increased by 28.4 percent, 63.2 percent and 17.3 percent year-on-year, respectively.

At the same time, major projects such as Audi FAW new energy vehicle project have started construction, paving the way for future development.

Sino-German joint venture FAW-Volkswagen – based in Changchun city, Jilin province – witnessed its 25 millionth vehicle roll off the assembly line on Oct 24.

Its 20 millionth vehicle was produced on March 30, 2020.

In recent years, FAW-Volkswagen has overcome multiple challenges such as the COVID-19 epidemic, computer chip shortages and natural disasters and achieved the leap from 20 million vehicles to 25 million vehicles in just two years and seven months.

As such, FAW-Volkswagen became the only passenger car company that has produced and sold more than 5 million vehicles since 2020.

In the first three quarters of the current year, vehicle production in Jilin province increased by 0.2 percent year-on-year and the growth rate turned from negative to positive. Among manufacturers, the Hongqi brand has produced more than 200,000 vehicles.
