Jilin province records strong economic development

Northeast China's Jilin province recorded a strong economic performance in the third quarter of 2022, with various economic indicators showing robust growth, according to the provincial statistics bureau.

In the period, the added value of industries above a designated size there expanded by 18.4 percent year-on-year, which was 13.6 percentage points higher than the national average.

Production by the automobile industry recovered significantly and its added value in the months of July, August and September increased by 28.4 percent, 63.2 percent and 17.3 percent year-on-year respectively.

During the quarter, the added value of the province's information industry increased by 88.3 percent year-on-year, while the added value of the equipment manufacturing industry increased by 32.8 percent.

Jilin's fixed asset investment posted positive growth as 919 new projects started construction in the province, with a planned investment of 136.26 billion yuan ($18.66 billion), a year-on-year increase of 12.1 percent.

Major projects such as Audi FAW's new energy vehicles plant and its Jilin carbon fiber project started construction.

Elsewhere, industrial investment continued to recover, up 14.2 percent in the quarter and infrastructure investment accelerated, rising 12.5 percent.

In the first three quarters, the operating income of the software and information technology services, scientific research and technical services in Jilin province increased by 16.3 percent and 25.4 percent, respectively.

The output value of the province's industrial strategic emerging industries increased by 9.8 percent year-on-year, accounting for 16.5 percent of the total output value of industries above a designated size.
