Dad, daughter to be Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics referees

Wang Jinsong and his daughter Wang Shiyao, from Baishan city in Northeast China's Jilin province, will serve as referees at the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics – to be held in and around the national capital next month – according to local media reports.

Wang Jinsong is a member of staff of the Baishan Amateur Sports School. Since he first officiated at the Baishan National Cross-country Ski Championship in 2001, for over two decades he has participated in national skiing competitions every year.

He obtained his national referee certificate in 2003 and was elected to be a torchbearer at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

At the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Wang Jinsong will serve as the domestic technical officer of the alpine skiing event.

His daughter Wang Shiyao successfully obtained her national referee certificate for the Nordic combined events in 2019.
