China FAW has launched a new energy technology strategy for its Hongqi brand, focusing on charging technology, during a sub-forum of the 2021 China-Germany Automobile Conference on Oct 20.

According to the new energy technology strategy, the overall goal for Hongqi is to build 10 core proprietary advanced technologies around three major technology platforms – pure electricity, hybrid, and fuel cell technology platforms.

Hongqi will work with partners to create exclusive shared charging piles and develop wireless charging and special charging services, as well as place a focus on high safety, high efficiency, and low cost.

The sales volume of new energy vehicles in China continues to grow. According to China's new energy vehicle development plan, it is estimated that in 2035, the sales volume of new energy vehicles in China will account for 50 percent of the total.

At present, lithium-ion batteries are being used globally. New energy vehicles and energy storage have great demand for lithium-ion batteries, and the new energy sector has increased by 112 percent.
