China-ROK cooperation demonstration zone marks progress

The China-ROK (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone, located in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province, has recorded development progress over the past year, with 51 major projects worth 100 million yuan ($15.47 million) each currently underway in the demonstration zone.

The demonstration zone, established on June 29, 2020, includes industrial parks promoting bilateral collaboration in IT, high-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing, food, and medicine, as well as an international business facility.

In accordance with the overall requirements of the China-ROK comprehensive and wide-ranging cooperation, the demonstration zone has coordinated and promoted the coordinated development of China and South Korea in the fields of politics, culture, science and technology, education, and humanities.

It has focused on establishing a coordination mechanism, and international cooperation has been steadily advancing.

At present, with the strong support of the provincial and municipal foreign affairs departments, a regular exchange mechanism with the Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation has been established.

The two sides have carried out international exchange activities through mutual visits, video conferences, and on-site inspections.

The demonstration zone actively communicates with South Korean local governments, and has established contacts with 17 provinces and cities in South Korea, and promoted the China-Korea City Pavilion project.

Since the establishment of the demonstration zone, 13 foreign-funded projects have been signed with companies such as CJ Group and TMS Co.

In 2021, a number of international cooperation projects developed with industrial leaders, including Daesang Corporation, Jilin Senzhong Intelligent Equipment Co, and Foxconn Intelligent Agriculture, have been introduced to the demonstration zone.
