During a regular scientific review monitoring the summer species diversity in the Changbai Mountains in Jilin province, teachers from Northeast Normal University found Cheilotheca humilis, a rare plant that is usually distributed in broadleaf-conifer mixed forests and broadleaf forests in mid- and high-altitude regions.

During the 20-day investigation, researchers accumulated a large amount of detailed species information and scientific data and took a large number of photos of rare animals and plant life.

"Cheilotheca humilisis a special kind of plant that doesn't contain any photosynthetic pigment, so it presents a white color for the entire body," an expert from the university said. "We made a short video in hope of increasing awareness of this plant among members of the public."
