A green-colored high-speed train C1553 known as the “green giant” debuted at Changchun Railway Station in Changchun, capital of Northeast China’s Jilin province, on Oct 22.

Rail officials said it was the train’s first time operating in Northeast China and it traveled from Changchun to the province’s Songyuan city.

The train, with a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour, is one of the Fuxing range of trains. It is an upgrade of the traditional passenger train, while being much safer and more comfortable for passengers.

The first-class seats are equipped with comfortable pillows, and the second-class seats have more space than traditional trains.

In addition, power sockets and data cable jacks are provided under the seats and dining tables. Free Wi-Fi coverage is offered in the compartments, as well as seats for the disabled.

Staff at the Changchun Railway Station said that the station started operating four of the “green giant” trains.

The C1551 train leaves Changchun every day at 7:48 am for Songyuan; the C1553 train leaves Changchun every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:10 am for Songyuan; the C1557 train leaves Changchun every day at 14:38 pm for Tongyu -- and the C1559 leaves Changchun every day at 13:33 pm for Baicheng.

The “green giant” train is the first direct train service linking Changchun and Tongyu, officials said.

Passengers can take C1557 train to travel from Changchun to Tongyu, taking 4.5 hours.
